Black Art Futures is a collective of emerging philanthropists promoting the elevation and preservation of Black arts & culture. Through grant making, board-matching, and organization-to-donor cultivation, we seek to amplify and strengthen the future of Black art. We provide grants to small and mid-sized ($1.5M or less) nonprofits working to enhance the future of Black arts & culture. DéLana R.A. Dameron founded Black Arts Futures as a philanthropic initiative of Red Olive Creative Consulting in 2017.
Black Art Futures Fund aims to:
- Grow emerging philanthropists by providing a structured community to understand the importance of generous contributions to community-centered artists and arts & culture organizations
- Provide impactful general operating grants to those organizations in an effort to stabilize, validate, introduce to future philanthropists, and support the future of their work.
In Spring 2018, we aspire to make our first round of grants to organizations in the range of $2,000 to $6,000 for organizations. Applications for organizations will open late 2017 or early 2018. Fundraising for the initial grant cycle has already started.
Black Arts Futures is comprised of young leaders who have made the joint commitment to establish the fund by offering starting pledges totaling more than $10,000.
Executive Board Members:
- DéLana R.A. Dameron, Founder
- Ope Bukola, Founding Executive Board Member

With a minimum gift of $1,000, emerging philanthropists of Black arts can join a community committed to amplifying the rich artistic contributions of arts & culture organizations and artists who center and showcase Black arts. Steering committee members have the opportunity to meet current and prospective grantees, make funding recommendations, network with like-minded emerging philanthropists, VIP access to art events, and more.
Steering Committee members will develop as leaders and givers, and learn and understand the importance and impact of philanthropy on the arts & culture sector. Donors at this level or higher who are interested in Board membership will have access to vetting of organizations, and donor matching and training by granted organizations as well as organizations who applied but were not granted, Red Olive Creative Consulting will walk interested donors through the process. Ultimately: You are helping to shape the future of Black arts!
For organizations who receive a grant, a small portion of the grant amount will be used to support the future financial growth and stabilization of the organization through a specialized consultancy with Red Olive Creative Consulting. Additionally, grantees will have priority to be matched with interested Fund donors who express interest in “going deeper” by becoming a transformational Board Member(s).
